Tips
Tip 1
Standing for many hours each day forces the veins in your legs to work extra hard against gravity, in order to pump the blood from the veins back up to the heart. Wearing medical compression stockings gives your leg veins that extra push they need to keep your circulation going.

Tip 2
Washing your medical compression stockings in Woolite or any other mild detergent that has softeners or perfumes can actually damage the fibers of the stockings. Instead, use our manufacturer-recommended Support Sock Shop Washing Solution! It rinses stockings free and clear of odors, stains and residues, without compromising the stocking's special fibers.

Tip 3
Medical compression thigh highs with the silicone topband can sometimes "lose their stick". Skin oils and other residues can build up on the silicone, making it difficult for the silicone to keep the stocking in place. Simply moisten a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol, and wipe down the silicone surface until clean.

Tip 4
Getting the best therapeutic benefit from your medical compression stockings has more to do with the fit of the stocking on your leg, rather than which brand it is! Instead of playing a guessing game, buy with confidence! Contact one of our Certified Fitters for help with sizing and product selection.

Tip 5
When putting on medical compression stockings, be sure to use our rubber application gloves, which help ease the stocking material over the leg, without causing distress to your hands or the stocking material. Don't bunch up the stocking at the toe like you would do to pull on regular socks! Medical compression material is too firm and tense, and will not easily allow your foot inside. Instead, reach your hand down into the stocking, grip the fitted heel part and pull the stocking partially inside out. That way, you start with inserting your foot into the fitted foot part, and then use the gloves to ease the rest of the sock up.
